After many years as an editor, Web producer and marketer, I finally put my journalism degree to use by becoming a writer in 2007, when I joined FOXSports.com as a fantasy contributor. My work covers baseball (mostly) and football, including a morning blog entry that’s published by 8 a.m. ET on weekdays, and a couple of columns per week.
Staying in the FOX family, I started a weekly fantasy football column during the 2007 NFL season for FOXNews.com. In 2009 we added a weekly video Webcast, which was co-hosted by FOX & Friends host Brian Kilmeade and myself. I’ve also done plenty of radio appearances discussing fantasy baseball and football, including a weekly spot in 2011 with Zakk & Jack on FOX Sports Radio.
I’ve mostly worked in sports, with stints at the United States Olympic Committee, the National Hockey League, USA Network and the Charlotte Bobcats. I also worked with an outstanding, award-winning advertising agency in Charlotte, N.C., for a few years, and consult for them now. My clients there were wide-ranging, including the Bobcats, WIX Filters, Gerber Childrenswear and AmWINS (a wholesale insurance company).
My recent consulting work has mainly been in the social media realm, where I’ve had the opportunity to manage one client’s Facebook and Twitter accounts since early 2010. It’s been a good fit, as I’ve been able to combine my editorial and marketing skills with good results. The client’s Facebook “likes” have increased more than 1,000 percent since we started, mostly without the use of attention-grabbing contest gimmicks that tend to be unhelpful in the long term.
I’m always on the lookout for writing opportunities and interesting consulting work, so please let me know if you’ve got something in mind.
Enough about work. I was born in Staten Island, N.Y., graduated from Rutgers University, and moved to Charlotte in 2004. My wife Heather and I have two kids – Abby is eight, and Luke is four. Our golden retriever, Oscar Madison, is obviously named after the greatest sitcom character of all-time.
